The first draft of WordPress For Writers is written.
It took me longer than I expected, mainly because I kept getting inspired to add more tips and advice as I went along. And as a result, the book is longer and wider-ranging than I originally planned.
Which can only be a good thing.
It’ll be released on 21 June, but in the meantime you can order it at the special pre-order price of $2.99/£2.49 in ebook format.
Once it’s released, it’ll also be available as a paperback (my preferred format for nonfiction), and the ebook price will go up to $5.99/£4.99.
Which means if you want to get it for half price, you’ll need to preorder it.
Which means if you pre-order it, you’ll get it for half price.
The book walks you through the process of creating your author website, showing you exactly what to do at every step of the way. Before it’s published, a team of beta readers will be reading it, and I’ll be asking them to tell me if it helped them to build or improve their own website. Any sections that don’t help with that process will be edited or rewritten.
So the book is designed to be very practical. If you can’t afford a web designer, and don’t have the skills to create a website yet, this will give you what you need.
It includes both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress (also known as WordPress.org) and walks you through the steps you need to take to create an awesome author website using both platforms. It also explains the difference between the two and will help you decide which is best for you.
And if you change your mind and decide to switch from WordPress.com to self-hosted WordPress in the future? That’s covered in the book too.
Once you’ve created your site, you’ll want to know how to add content, what content to add, and how to link the site to your mailing list so you can automate the process of getting mailing list signups. That’s covered.
As well as the practicalities, the book also examines how your website fits into your overall book marketing plans and helps you to be strategic and use your time wisely.
I’ve done my best to include everything I believe an author needs to create a great website that’ll help you sell books, without over-complicating things. If you don’t have an author website yet, or you do have one but want to improve it or use it more effectively, this book will help.
You can pre-order it now for half price. All pre-orders will help raise the book’s visibility on the retailers and help me to reach a bigger audience.
